OVERVIEW

A B-1 Visa allows a foreign national to temporarily visit the United States and handle their business venture. This merit-based visa allows access to a variety of business and economic ventures in the United States. Individuals eligible for this visa range from board members and athletes to musicians, entertainers and servants of non-immigrants.

STEPS

Applicants must submit your visa application form and other required documents at the U.S. Consulate, Consular Office or U.S. Embassy with jurisdiction over your permanent residence.

DOCUMENTS

To apply for a B-1 Visa, each applicant must supply the following documents:

1. Completed Visa Application Form DS-156;
2. Form DS-157 is required in certain instances (some Consulates require a DS-157 for all visa applicants);
3. A passport valid for travel to the United States for at least six months;
4. One recent photograph 1 & 1/2 inches square (37mm x 37mm) of each applicant, with the entire face visible. The picture should be taken before a light background and without head covering;
5. Evidence indicating the nature of the applicant's trip to the U.S.;
6. Specific and realistic plans describing why the applicant wishes to visit the U.S.;
7. Information about the business the applicant plans to conduct in the U.S.;
8. Demonstration of non-immigrant intent;
9. Evidence of the applicant's ability to support themselves while in the U.S., or evidence of other means of support.
